A fire was discovered in the Station by neighbors at 8 pm the evening of November 2, 2006.
The Versailles Fire Department responded in force, both full time and volunteers to fight the fire. They were successful in saving the building and all equipment, however there was significant damage to both our station office and the contents.
While insurance will cover part of the rebuilding cost, donations toward restoration of the station are requested and much appreciated. Below is a Draft drawing of how we hope the repaired station will look.

Plan on attending our grand re-opening May 16 (ribbon cutting), 17th and 18th
Groundbreaking for the reconstruction was held on July 3, 2007. Shown in photograph from left are Winfrey Adkins, President of BGRM, John Penfield, Exec Dir of BGRM and Fred Siegelman Mayor of Versailles.
Plans for the reconstruction included removal of the roof and second floor damaged by the fire. The new long and low profile resembles stations built in the late 1800's. A 900 square foot addition will house museum exhibits.

We plan a grand reopening ceremony in late September or early October
The old charred trusses were removed and new ones erected to form the new station roof profile.
